The Trail 35 is a great little backpack and if it was £2, a bargain! I gave one to my niece and she loves it. As a user, the Alpinistes with modern buckles (as opposed to the older metal buckle you have to thread the webbing through) are some of my favourites. I do really enjoy using the older packs, but they are less convenient. I took an old Karrimor Lynx on a Cardiff Three Peaks event to raise money for CBMRT and whilst the event was not in any way a race, it was a timed event with checkpoints so I wanted to put in a half decent effort. I really struggled to get food and water out of the pack whilst on the move and trying to unthread the straps whilst hanging off one shoulder was frustrating.

Here is another Alpiniste I own. It doesn't really get used much as it's in such good condition I want to keep it that way, plus I have well used Alpinist which I use often on walks and twice a month for dogsbodying that I don't mind getting even more well used.

This is an interesting one, I think, because it has a floating hood for when you need to carry extra large loads.

Yeh, £2! Charity shops rule.

I like the metal buckles and the older style with no pockets, more like a kit bag. It's the webbing ladder that runs along em that appeals to me, so they don't shiggle about off road.

I took the Hot Earth to the climbing gym today so thought I'd get a pic of it. I also bought a chalk bag made by a Welsh company who make them from recycled scraps from other pieces of equipment.

Walking into a hut in the Hammastunturi Wilderness in Finland and my friend turns up with this Karrimor Jaguar 6 I believe in KS100e fabric.

1981 he reckons!

I recently picked up this Karrimor Hot Earth. It's the same colour as my much bigger Aiguille Alpine Equipment backpack. I used this Hot Earth recently on a training day with mountain rescue and found it very comfortable. As I was concentrating on the activities at hand I forgot it was even on my back.
