Hi, looking for a L2 course that includes the assessment, like a weekend away that gives you some skills and drills and by the end of it you have the qual, cheers

You do mean an “bushcraft” course, right?

Personally my mind boggles at the idea that a “qualification” in bushcraft can be conferred via just a two day course.

I think a Level 2 course is GCSE A-C sort of level as well. The idea that such a level of understanding of bushcraft can be taught and assessed in a weekend is farcical.

Been doing it for years and am still a complete amateur.

Kahuna - If you're new to bushcraft an just wanting to learn via a course, I'd try something like a Frontier Bushcraft beginners course and go from there. If you want a qualification to go on to teach people with, a weekend is nowhere near enough and you'll be a danger to both yourself and any potential students.

If you let us know what it is you're looking for beyond just a L2 course, and why you're looking for it, we might be able to give a bit more guidance. :)

The identical question was asked a couple of weeks ago on the BushcraftUK Reddit. Different username, but that doesn’t signify much.

I reckon we wait to hear some more details from Kahuna before investing time offering advice. It is kind of an odd question.

Just go on a course and if you do get a certificate use it for getting the fire going. Paul Kirtley is good if you in the UK. A bit more expensive but if you want quality he is your go to. Come back and tell us how you get on. DD x

I would also recommend listening to Paul Kirtley’s latest podcast episode with Jamie Dakota and Adam Logan. It’s a really good conversation, exploring how they became bushcraft instructors through fairly different paths.
