Got my Urology appointment.

one problem.

its in Scotland.

(Lack of communication between systems, methinks)

Should I cancel (and lose my place)

or attend?

Priorities hinge on:

Urgency - deadlines etc.

versus

Importance - consequences of failure to complete.

Neither urgent nor important - relax
Urgent but not important - fit it in if the timescale (and cost) works.
Important but not urgent - do it now unless there is another priority.
Urgent and important - that is your priority.

You can only have one priority - that’s what the word means!

Whatever you decide - hope everything goes well for you.

I have a kidney stone.

(And much relief when they found it. I have seen people found by kidney stones and its not something you forget)

I am fine but I would like it sorted before it makes its presence known.

NHS Scotland is easy to contact. There'll be a number on the letter.
You might just explain that you won't be back up until later on in Spring, and could they please move your appointment forward.

I suffered with kidney stones and renal colic (the kidney trying to evict the stone) for years, spending a lot of time in hospital for pain relief when the stones were being passed ... Morphine was the only help!
Then I went to see a Clinical Herbalist and she gave me a foul gloop to drink each day and that almost totally solved the problem - 2 stones in 20something years instead of 1 per year ... worth thinking about ...
Alternatively an old folk remedy is drinking a shot of cider vinegar in a glass of water each day - this is something I am now trying as my herbalist has retired and I cannot afford the prices charged by anyone else in the area.
Good luck!

Call the service number given on your letter. Explain the situation and they will probably advise on importance and rearrange appointment if necessary over the phone. Mostly the people on the end of the hospital telephone call are nice and helpful IME. Speak to them with respect and they will do their best for you. Make friends and influence, and all that!!

PS if you are down south and need to get up there then don't expect trains to be running North of Preston until at least Sunday and then they will be late as the train crew play their tricks resulting in train cancellations after the storm.

PS my train route cancels at least a train a day which is a lot considering they only go once an hour from 6am to about 11pm. Always down to crewing issues. Usually a single crew member fails to make it in that day and there is no cover.
