Njorn small axe

want a small hatchet to carry in a day bag not wanting to spend too much but wanted a traditional axe so bought this njord malin hatchet arrived this morning well made came sharp but not razor ....leather mask/belt loop and all in a wooden box and only £53 delivered well please just going to a razor edge on it

That looks better. That factory edge looks like someone ground it on a house brick. Be interested to hear how it holds up up chopping criss grain through some knots

And what's your thoughts on using it for initial spoon carving? Heavy enough and handle length suitable for control?

Looks quite a lot like the Roselli axe. It is very good at splitting but as a general purpose axe a failure. The edge angle is just too large.

What is the edge angle after the second sharpening?

Like the looks of it, though personally I prefer a slightly longer handle.
