Started some blackberry syrup, awesome on pancakes or ice cream.
Tried making wine a couple of times, alright but heavy going the morning after and you'll never shift the stains
I have not had such a good crop here - too much rain! A lot of the early crop moulded on the stem and a lot of the fruit is small now and ill formed.
That said I have made two blackberry and apple crumbles (in the woods over a weekend meet) and have picked about 4lb for making blackberry vodka....
I am still awash with rasps, with apples, with rhubarb, pears, etc., Friend brought me in plums last week too.
I'm fond of brambles, but I'm glad they're a little later on usually so I get clear of the rest first.
Brambles make lovely jelly, and that jelly makes a really nice hot drink, like hot ribena
I'm now wondering which wild crop is the most productive per area? Brambles certainly can provide a large yield but it does sprawl as a plant and take up alot of real estate. Good luck getting to the top of that one unscathed!!
