Looking for Elderflower - Staffordshire

Hi all,

First time poster and forager.

I’d really love to make my own elderflower cordial this year but have no idea where to go foraging!

I’d be really grateful if someone could recommend a good spot in Staffordshire.

First of all hello and welcome to the forum Maria.

As for finding elder bushes, just check out your local hedgerows

I dont know about your area...theres loads here.

Once you look for them you will see plenty.

I trust you know what you are looking for?

The best Elders will be in fairly decent soil, in sheltered hedgerows.

Ones on hills will be sad and scraggly and not have many flowers.

Elderflower cordial=delicious.
The flowers will be along in a whole. A bit early yet.s

You need to get a few more posts under your belt before you can upload direct to the forum. That or use an external picture hosting site

You can make fritters with the flowers (indeed any edible flowers)

But leave some to turn to berries; elderberry wine and Pontac sauce.
