I am getting quite concerned now, all is very much not well, all is very much rotten and turning to shite in front of our eyes. I’ll say no more other than folk need to wake up and wake up bloody soon.

A lot of people on UC are single parent families, so for every batch of hours you work you migt have to cover some/all with childcare/babysitting.
I know someone that every time she worked a 4 hour morning, she would earn £3 takehome after the expenses of earning, she did it to get time away from children.
Also theres costs of meals, lunch while working for some people is more expensive than when at home.
and travel of coarse, i know people who for every day they work, 2-3 hours of pay goes towards fuel and parking.
And then theers tax of coarse.

Seems a bit unfair and divisive, especially to the kids of one parent families, and those on low incomes, I can see why a Council would do it, as it probably works out cheaper than what it costs them now. Cant see much incentive to get a job though.(as was proved in Finland)
1600 a month was far too much, thats more than I got when I was working 6 days a week, that was 10 years ago tho.
a better option would be £1000 a month, but rather than handing it out to specific people, would work better if all income was taxed, rather than 20% of anything over 12k or whatever it is
that way 12k to live on means you can subsist if you are in a terrible job and want to leave etc. or if one person becomes housewife, then their 12k means less spending on things like meals etc if they are at home...
when me and mrs were both working full time, it was often easier to pick up chips on way home, suddenly an hours wages gone for the day.
with 12k being enough to live on, but not too much, theres still reason to work, and as any work income is simply on top.

There various other schemes only seemed to look at employment, more importantly is things like family unity, not needing chilcare, mental and physical health benefits, drain on NHS.
how is it powered, ive got wood so heating and cooking for large house is about £400 a year, cos some of the wood we womble. perhaps 5-600 at most

I'd be able to catch up on bills and then have the money to do all the work to my truck and finally have a 4x4 and disposable income to use.
i certainly agree with most of your assessments. My only objection might be the cost of lunch at work. Sure if you eat at the company cafeteria or a local pub or other place charging for the meal; but I believe most people have the ability to simply bring a packed lunch from home (either a sandwich or leftovers from supper the night before and a piece of fruit, etc)
Brits on average , arn't as physically heavy as Americans...
80mph winds may not be an issue for you guys but for us its potentially a one way ticket to the stratosphere

LOL. I was thinking more of the buildings you're inside instead. We don't bat an eye at the storm itself if it's that mild. But we cringe at the thought of the days or weeks after without electricity for the air conditioner in the >90f (>32c) heat with >85% humidity (the basic conditions that spawn these storms)Brits on average , arn't as physically heavy as Americans...
