I've done a bit of driving and would agree that once one is seen as a 'driver' alot of people seem to treat them differently than another member of the public.

worst job I EVER did was multi drop driving. Granted it wasn’t HGV but I can remember the ‘treated like dirt’ problem.

that’s why I am nice to the drivers that knock on my door. It’s a pretty **** job.

It’s weird, but it is a thing. I do some delivery work dropping pies, Scotch eggs, sausage rolls etc made by a local farmer who’s main thing is rescuing battery hens and giving them a lovely life in massive fields and henhouses. Pork is locally produced and killed for his meat, also in a farm I see the animals. It’s built on animal welfare and about as good as it gets really.

But some of the shop drops (small, rural village stores) and treatment by the self entitled whose car I’ve blocked for a mere minute are disgustingly rude. They seem to like to use the shop, but don’t really have much time for it to be delivered to.

You’re around these parts, this is the place. I’m hoping the business will build and the vans get signwriting. Part of it in this case is a ‘white van’ problem.

Had to get a couple of jerrycans filled the other day just in case. Got some bad looks from the other drivers topping up from 3/4s to full. :censored:

Yep! Public is not acting crazy or been whipped into panic mode, at all!

Latest news was about motorists queuing for 3 hours to get fuel at a garage that was closed. IIRC Derbyshire on the A516 or something like that. Apparently police officers moving motorists on got a lot of abuse and one van driver is wanted by police for a incident there. The garage was closed because someone had tampered with the pumps and had broken them. They had fuel but couldn't sell it because of the broken pumps.

Other tv interviews with motorists queuing had one woman saying she was driving past and saw a queue so just joined in, didn't really need fuel just joined in!!!:banghead::dunno:

Do, it’s good stuff. The farm isn’t a shop as such but they supply shops in Liss, Billingshurst, Hazlemere, Reigate all the way down to Brighton and up as far as Barton Tracy nr Winchester.

They’re trying to get away from plastic packaging at the moment, but all is cooked on Monday and in the shops Tuesday and Wednesday. No affiliation, I just like their set-up, and Lionel is the most laid back fella ever. Just sits and minds his hens, let’s the rooks tell him if there’s a fox about and points out the doe feeding her fawn under the oak tree at the bottom of the field. All good :)

Right off topic, but maybe not too much as only the product which is produced on site is being driven anywhere, and there’s not much waste in fuel terms.

Not wanting to poke holes in peoples tinfoil hats however this "crisis" does smack of an old government technique of giving with one hand and taking with the other. It just seems odd that as quarantine & travel restrictions are easing, suddenly the public is paranoid about using their cars to go anywhere.

I don't think it's Government inspired, more tabloid; they'd run out sensational stuff to drown us with.

I've just been out, no queues, all pumps operational, everything normal around here.

I don't think it's a conspiracy but I bet electric car salesmen are rubbing their hands together.

Electric cars will get a big push soon in terms of making it the 'sensible' choice for the enlightened.

I'm pretty sure all the parts and various elements needed to make a new network of green electric car usage is going to environmentally also quiet damaging.

That being said - I'm giving serious thought to getting an electric bike.

And just to add more fun n games, I'd suggest people in Liverpool / Manchester fill up and stock up.
Not at liberty to say why, but....... just in case stock isn't being replenished

I'm hesitant about taking the plunge. I want a new vehicle but don't want to buy a petrol/diesel model if it'll be blacklisted before long but don't want to pay extra money for an electric vehicle that is less convenient to use.
