Hello everyone.

I've been reading this forum for some time as a guest, seemingly ignoring the fact that I actually already had an account, pillaging knowledge and not contributing. But, for one, I recently discovered there are midlands meet-ups that I might be interested in so I thought I'd introduce myself and get involved a little.

I'm a city boy with a bit of Cubs, Scouts, DofE, loads of car camping and day hiking, and touring in a converted camper (my dirty builder's transit van). But my knowledge of the natural world is seriously lacking! I've been sleeping under a tarp in woods, practising bushcraft and doing a little fishing for just about three years now, with the ambition of developing the skills to be able to undertake a decent expedition in North Europe or North America. But also I just really like camping!

Thanks for all the good info here. The recommendations, reviews and links to good resources have been really useful. I'm not exactly sure what I have to contribute at the moment but I'm happy to share what is and isn't working for me and it would be great to connect with some like-minded people!

Hi and welcome,

There is a midlands meet up group active on here, I'm hoping to pop by this weekend. I've only recently moved up to the midlands (Melbourne) so still learning the area. Hopefully I'll see you around.
