I use some dense and oily local woods, and what I do to improve the adhesion is (in addition to cleaning with solvents) is to drill a series of holes, 1.5 mm in diameter, 1-2 mm deep, in the scales.

I suspect it is not needed in reality, as many of the kitchen knifes I work on have oily exotic wood scales hold on by two brass rivets, without glue.
I like the 'belt and suspenders' approach though!

Lovely work as always.
I'm making one at the moment and it's taking forever, no shed time recently.
I'm sure your customer will be chuffed!

That's about right for a camp knife. Both the blade length and the thickness gives it some mass.
I like the profile and the grind = nothing exotic at all. Simple leather sheath to go with that?
Your customer should be pleased.

That looks very nice , I like working with 80crv2 , do you get it from ground flatstock uk ? I have used them in the past and there good to deal with , what grit did you use on the finished blade edge ?
