Hi all made myself a new tool for the wilds! not sure on what I'm going for handle wise and still refining the edge geo.

What will you use a parang for in Uk? Hacking a path through the Blackberry bushes?

Wood janne wood! I have an open fire, and I would not hack up a berry bush! they make good eating! well the berrys do, the rest .......not so good

Is not an axe to be preferred? More weight, more splitting power?

No not as versatile I prefer a large blade khukuri or parang
Axe is a dedicated chopping tool and pretty poor at anything else tho I can use it for more.

Depend on how you trained / what your used to as to what your used to all work in different ways.

Never been much taken to the use of an axe, I'm more into using a billy hook or a semi all rounder like the peranger knife or a like heavy blade, but saying that a good axe is a fine tool!

Still not sure no lol! but I have some wenga a lovely wood! and think if I have more in the grip I can work it for longer.
