I've had a quick scan through ~ I'm just getting past the feeling that I'm part of the zombie apocalyse  . I reckon it`s feasible but I'll need to check viability for that specific weekend. To do that I`ll need to talk to check bookings/availability and talk to the management commitee ;) . Hopefully I'll be up again this coming w/e (I will endeavour to ensure that I get there ;) )

OK, cool.

How often do these meets happen?

Hi, generally every couple of months. The one after this will likely be in January the one after will be schedue to fall on the weekend of the Spring TORM event.

I can't make this one (because there's no way I'm gonna get enough gear by November), but I'd love to go to the next one! :)

Don't worry about having _enough_ or the _right_ kit. If you've enough to be warm day and night (clothes you're comfortable wearing in a woodland environment, sleeping bag, kip mat, shelter of some type), something to cook, on, in and with then you're pretty much good to go :D

The thing with Meets is that you can see what others have _and use_ and get their opinions first hand over why it works for them ~ which adds to your ability to form opinions of what's right for you ;) (Whether the kit's suitable for your general aims and use is another thing ;) )

The other nice thing about meets is if you're short of anything you need for the weekend people are usually more than happy to help you out if you ask :)

haha, not enough kit, haha, as long as you have warm clothes we have everything else you need. Anything Neil and Clare don't have, I will. You are welcome to use and trial what you like. :)

i.e. warm enough sleeping bag, hot water bottle, latest army folding x-bed, tarp, ground sheet, pop-up tent, roll mat, folding chair, kitchen sink etc.,you won't be uncomfortable and you'll enjoy yourself.

We are likely to do communal catering under the parachute and have a communal fire. Neil will bring loads of wood, I will organise the galley with LPG gas stove, lighting etc.

A good number will be selling at TORM during the day or just visiting The Original Re-enactment Market (TORM). We will probably do stew in a cauldron, bumper fried breakfast, fresh bread, haggis, eggy bread, banana fritters, butter maple popcorn etc.

Let me know

Time to bring the list to the top of the thread ... and give an incidental bump to the thread at the same time.

Most of the relevant information is in post #01 but feel free to ask questions if you're unsure.

All sounds good to me :)

What sort of contribution will you need to cover the food and logs Phil?

Thanks Steve ;)

I imagine ed wood wood would be covered with a couple of quid per camper per night. After all, sitting around a camp fire is the great equalizer.

Food wood or rather would be on an at cost contribution basis into the usual yellow subs plastic tin depending upon what is on offer/consumed. (LPG plus sundries plus wear and tear.)

Just had a thought ... I know  ... at the moment of typing, due to me travelling by foot atm*, the 'chute will be dropped off or us Thursday evening. I think that it'll probably make more sense to rig it on the Friday Morning than in the hours of darkness. Similarly the 'chute wiill need to come down on the Sunday so that it can be picked up and transported home for me.

* Bike's bosted! :(

What sort of contribution will you need to cover the food and logs ...

:thinkerg:

Big blue buiders tarp?

If you need a hand transporting stuff kit or yourself I can help, as I am a man of leisure till I get a new job I can help :) Although when I headed home my dad (80) had a load of jobs he wants me to do in the garden and up the allotment...just being on longer leave :)

Cheers for the offer Pete, it's very much appreciated. In all honesty I enjoy the walk in (and out). The issue comes when I need to lug roughly 20kg/40 litres of additional kit in the form of the communal 'chute and related gubbins ;) . I have a work around sorted but if it falls through then it's going to be getting it there and back as I best I can; which will be up late and down early

I'll bring my big communal tarp with me and bung it up when I get there Thursday so we can have some shelter for that night. It'll then be an easy job to swap them over Friday morning :)

Regarding contributions I can bring oatcakes and pikelets down with me on Thursday if people are interested. :)

umm, pikelets, yummy. The crumpet equivalent of thin crust pizza and they're delivered. I'll bring the Marmite to go on them. :)
