please accept my apology too as I voted more than 3 . using an old mobile an still getting used to seeinglast post first.

In priority to me
1. lightweight travel
2. tracking
3. traps n trapping

cheers

Judging by the post traffic on here I reckon you should a) Organise a death match between Ray and Bear and charge for tickets and b) Take everyone on a shopping trip to a camping shop.

Hi Tony,

I shant vote as I can't really see myself traveling all the way down from sunny Scotland for a course. This isn't a reflection of the course quality as whenever I've read threads of folk who've been on them they sound great. It's just that course costs coupled with travel costs can make it a tadge expensive for us frugal Scots. Do you have data as to how many BBUK members reside in which geographical locations? See a lot of active members from Wales, Cumbria, Yorkshire and Scotland but it would be interesting to see if running courses in certain locations would be viable. Though believe me I know trying to organise groups of folk for things is like trying to herd frightened cats.
Great site and I'm really enjoying being back after my soujourn in the electronic wilderness.
Cheers

Light weight travel and bushcraft (Bushcraft Journey on foot foraging/fishing/hunting on route etc)

get's my one and only vote, a fundamental type Bushcraft course is covered by every course provider out there and i personally wouldn't see the point of this. Looking at the other providers menus i think this type of delicious course is missing. But like C da cat said earlier the more epic the better.... well within a week span that is. Preferably in the UK.

Voted.
Priorities,
1. Light weight travel and Bushcraft
2. Skills - Foraging / Wild foods - Forest, stream and field
3. Navigation and Bushcraft

I think potentially these three could all be incorporated together into a long weekend and I think long weekends are probably best for me and for most people.
I can't commit to a week long course with time off work and away from the family but a Friday to Monday thing with three nights out is do-able for most people.

Once again I notice the "limit of 3 choices" thing after I've hit submit.

One thing I would be interested in, which may come under the traps and trapping course, is how to make a fishing net, as well as fish traps/pots.

Thanks

J

Always top of my list as it's a subject that many of us neglect:
First Aid, basic and a wilderness/ remote element.
Navigation another oft' neglected skill.
And from leftfield. Basic Mapmaking, a great way to really see and experience an area is by trying to map it. Many of the greatbtales of endurance and survival are of explorers engaged on cartographic expeditions.

I would dearly love an archery week, bow making, arrow making, field archery, target archery, hunting (shhh, might have to hold it outside the UK) and quiver making. The full works. Oh archery camp. That would be lovely.

Agreed with the above comment! I consider myself an okay archer, and i do make my own arrows anyway, but I've always wanted to cut my own stave, tiller my own bow and make bow string.

I would sign up to that in a heart beat!

I'd quite fancy the bow making. I've only ever used modern compound bows and Xbows so I'd quite like to learn to use something more old-school.
