And started forging a viking style knife from some 1/2inch silver steel round bar

Needs tang drawing out more

I believe that it is unusual to expect that every effort will yield a perfect result.
Your post#8 is a magnificent example. The recurved tang and whipping is such a clean finish.
If practice makes perfect, do more. You are dangerously close to earning a reputation for these edges.

I have spent(?) some years investigating the blade designs and tools of the Pacific Northwest native cultures.
Just a soon as I saw what you did (#8), I understood ( I hope) where you are going.
Go easy, go more, go exploring. I'll enjoy your journey.

Ive just etched this one . Quite happy with how it turned out. My last laminated knife was a disaster!!
