I've wanted to replace my SAK as an EDC for a while; it has pliers, a couple of screwdrivers etc. I use it constantly. The 4" locking blade is a problem and it would be useful to be able to use driver bits.

Leatherman seem to have two different driver bit systems:
http://www.leathermans.co.uk/Leatherman-Bit-Kit-LT26.html (good point is it also fits standard bits)

http://www.leathermans.co.uk/Leatherman-Bit-Kit-LT27.html which just fit the Charge and Wave - then there is a bit extender which again fits standard bits.

Are there any other half-decent multitools out there that can take driver bits?

if i understand your link correctly you need the multitool for the bits?!

unfortunately the BL**** net changes the language to japanese all time (AARRGGHH!) so i cannot tell you if they're still make them.... i added a victorinox screwdriver/bit set to my leatherman supertool (they also made as small ratchet instead of the screwdriver)- they work without needing a multitool and take standard bits (in case you wanna add/change/replace them)....

yes- that's what i'm talking about! i have the second one (together with the red holder and 10bits)- cannot remember how much i paid for it, i have it since 12 (?!) years and it proved useful countless times.....

Leatherman-wise the Kick is the largest tool with a legal blade but it doesn't have a bit driver, could always buy a Charge or Wave and replace the knife though.

I've been looking at the Leatherman Juice CS4 as an EDC carry multitool. It is compatible with the first of the bit adapters that you link to.

Just got the gerber balance, as they are cheap at HH, I was after something legal friendly, & this seems to fit the bill for me.
