A skellington (not a skeleton; that would be creepy): Think "day of the dead". Perhaps frollicking with a drink in hand.
A long turk's head, like this but carved in the leather, would look cracking on a cylindrical flask.

Lol, nah go for the white horse over the green man, or a nice welsh dragon, sort of representational of the internal contents.That's like a celtic knot - doable. At the moment I think I'm favouring a green man motif.
