N.E.S Meet #8 April (Glen Tanar)

  • Come along to the amazing Summer Moot (21st July - 2nd August), a festival of bushcrafting and camping in a beautiful woodland PLEASE CLICK HERE for more information.
I've got a charcoal kiln if anybody fancies making some. I'll bring it if there's any interest, think it'll go in the underfinch

Its a 45 gallon drum, fill with split wood and burn it until the smoke goes clear, then lid on and all the holes get blocked up with damp earth. Leave it to cool overnight. Hopefully you get charcoal in the morning.

I may also be able to lay my hands on some horses hoof fungus, if anyone fancies making Amadou, and there is a big hole in a field near here with a big deposit of clay if anyone would like to do a bit of pottery. (Im thinking of doing more 'non sharp' stuff, as Adze and I will have minions in tow)

Definitely - truly interested in the amadou, have watched a lot about it and would be very interested in learning how to use a natural resource as a firestarting tool! Thanks for offering! :-) :-)

Keep Calm and Camp Out!

Thinking about you creating space in your rucksack WWC... I feel really guilty as I've just ordered a camp bed for my Lavuu... Less bushcraft, more Glamping I suspect for me!

Hehe, I've just picked up a Snugpak Bergen, so I've got plenty of room for the kitchen sink! Lol...I guess glamping has it's place when you need comfort as a priority :D

Hi folks,

Just starting to finalize things now. Will post up the lists for meals etc.

Nick that would be fantastic mate cheers.I still haven't managed to get around to trying the amadou out and the charcoal sounds brilliant.

WWC: seeing as you've got some room left over could you take my kitchen sink as well please as I cant fit mine in :(.

And I've got a couple of kilos of decent grey clay. It'll want crushing and going through, but we don't want to be mucking about with shop bought style muck do we?
