Preparing a traditional reindeer dish in a 1970s Finnish cooking show. The first 16 minutes show various aspects of the Saami people gathered during the winter to herd their reindeers at the municipality of Savukoski in Northern Finland. The rest of the show illustrates how the actual dish is done.

These films are some of the best things I've seen in a long time; there's so much interesting stuff here, ingenious solutions to what must have been very harsh problems in conditions of great hardship in those times.

* 14:40 - 15:27 : Some 80 years old gold miners' sauna.
* 15:28 - 17:18 : Vacuum mining.
* 17:57 - 18:27 : Building a bridge over the river.
According to the documentary, the divers found a total of 62 grams of gold during the day shown at the end of the film.

A short film (with subtitles in English) produced in 1938 tells the story of the traditional lake-going boats of the Central and Eastern Finland. The best boat crews of the Sulkava Rowing Race, one of the largest rowing events in the World, can archive average speeds up to 6 knots using these kind of boats.
