DD Tarp Question

I have been using the DD 3x3 tarp for quite a while now and only recently wondered how people attach a utility line to it underneath the tarp as the hoops for the ridgeline are on the outside.

Has anyone got any good modifications to add a utility line?

I don't have a DD but I just run a separate line between the trees holding my tarp up. I use pretty thin cord and make it damn tight.

If you use prusiks on your ridgeline to keep your tarp taught you could cut a bit of cord the length of between your 2 prusiks and fasten with mini karabiners, that distance between your prusiks will be the same everytime you pitch your tarp so should work fine.

That's what I used to do too, I've got a ridgeline inside my hammock now which I use for hanging stuff off

as rich above said just put a ridge line underneath your tarp regards dave

On dd tarps the end ridge line tabs are stiched past the edge on the underside, this allows you to tie a ridge line underneath

I have prussuks attached perminatly to my ridgeline, and clip the tarp on using S-biners.
My 'under' ridge line (accessory line) that I hang my head torch, clothing bag, etc on is clipped also clipped in to those s-biners - means i can put it up or take it down as I wish.

I will give them a go next time I am out and see what works best for me.

The only thing I was worried about with the ridge line running under the tarp was it acting like a pathway for water to run.

That's what I used to do too, I've got a ridgeline inside my hammock now which I use for hanging stuff off

I do have a ridgeline inside my hammock which I use to hang a small bag for things that were in my pocket that day. Trouble is it cannot take too much weight or it just ends up sitting on top of my seleeping bag.

Tenth wonder tarps get around this neatly with little triangles on the main ridge ends. Then hoops sewn under the tarp to clip too.
