As the title suggests, if you could design and make or if there is one on the market already, what is the ultimate cooking pot for you?

Off to Estonia with Bare Thrills next March and in my quest to get my cook kit sorted Iv run into a wall as regards a cooking pot perfect for me and the trip.

For me the ultimate pot so far doesnt exsist, it would be made of anodised alluminium, it would be non stick, have a capacity of around 1.4 litres have an internal diameter of about 17cm (so I can fit my ally kettle inside) and have a decent non stick fry pan lid.
I would prefere for it to have a bail arm but thats not the end of the world if not.

Like I said Im pretty sure this pot doesmt exist for me although my quest shall continue lol.

So if you had a choice to design and make a flexible pot, what would it be?

All the best
Steve

I made my own from an SS biscuit barrel. I added a bail and a button to the lid - job done!:)
I am not sure of the capacity, only that it is big enough but not too big ... about 1.5-1.75L ... and the Trangia pot-grab holds it securely for pouring etc.

Thats quality John.
99.99% of all this Bushcraft stuff to me is quite simply use whatever works for you.
Lots of people love shiny titanium, but I just dont like them as I would struggle to cook anything but water, and I would prob burn that lol!!
Thanks for the reply mate

The Snow Peak Trek 900 is a good all rounder, or for a more bushcrafty alternative the Zebra 14cm.

Why do you need to carry a kettle as well as a pot Steve? I'd be tempted to leave it at home which will give you more options on the main pot.

i have "near enough" exactly what you want

1.3L black anodised pot, non stick frying pan, trangia kettle that fits inside the pot perfectly, the only thing is the pot has a folding handle not a bail arm, all inside a black heavy duty nylon carrying case with handle :)

Stainless rather than aluminium, don't care for a non stick surface, wider rather than taller, a lid that doubles as a plate or pan, a bail handle, no sticky out sharp bits.

It probably exists but I haven't seen it. In the meantime I mostly use Zebra billy cans of one size or another.

Lol, I'm a bit strange rich about having my water boiled in a kettle and not a pot lol!!
No idea why either tbh!!
But I no exactly what you mean!!

Not sure you have your specs right?

17cm diameter and 1.4L capacity would be around 7cm high?

Which would be someting like

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Stainless-S...WX62/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1353974453&sr=8-7

Or maybe next size up if absolutely want to ensure 17cm internal diameter

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Stainless-S...EC/ref=sr_1_13?ie=UTF8&qid=1353974453&sr=8-13

PS:

Look at these http://www.futurebazaar.com/shubham...ndle-5-pc-set-kadi-dabba-rbw-s8-12/pd/148117/

A set of 5 for less than £12 quid by my reconing, assuming the 909 is indian rupees. :/
