good times. your mate pete doesnt come from dorset does he? my lady thought that when people camped that they went to hotels in the evening to sleep. no joke! you should have seen her face when she saw my hammock set up. :) on the plus side. she loves the idea of a lavvu. even if she only loves the idea, once we've got it me and the boy will alsways have it ;) haha. wheres the bowyer course out of interest?

its a perfect little spot used by a bushcraft company i know. they only use it at certain times of the year and im trying to decide whether i should go through the hassle of arranging with them to share it with the masses (for a small fee) or be a greedy little piggy and keep it to myself

I'm doing the TGO Challenge in May and then two weeks in the French Alps in July, hopefully snowboarding again in winter and lots of lazy canoe camping in between. :)

I will be heading out to Lammermuir Hills for a 2 day cycle once the cold snap is over (don't quite trust my gear.)

Then in April wife and I will go to Loch Shiel for a 4 day canoe trip followed by an overnighter in Galloway Forest where we'll hopefully catch a clear night and do some star gazing.

i'm particularly looking forward to take my son on his first camping trips. and buying my 1st canoe! :)

Congratulations on 2 very important milestones! Be sure to post pictures!

thanks terr. i cant wait to take him. were going to do a couple of nights in a little pop up, on our living room floor over the next few week. just to get him used to being under canvas, then were off! just a couple of one nighters at first! mainly to keep the missus mind at rest. im also 2/3's saved for a lavvu. so she will be having her first camping trips. (she went to public school and genuinely believed that people stayed in tents during the day, the got a hotel in the evening) im really looking foward to us all loading up the canoe and gear on the motor. and heading for the water for nice trips. whats the canoe camping like on loch shiel? ive never been. i was thinking of loch lomond mainly because, A,the missus wont feel so much in the wilderness with the amount of human activity she will see putting in etc. B, ive been a few times when i lived in edinburgh. i shall definitley be posting pics of all said occaisions :D

Loads of weekends away - looking to get get qualified for MLT this year! Fingers crossed.
In May I'll hopefully be going to Bulgaria to see my brother who works out there - when you can drive to the height of Snowdon and still have 2000m of mountain above you, thats where I want to be :D
Got a 5 day cycle tour of North Wales mapped out - just need to sort the bike. Maybe similar for Scandinavia for late Summer.
