Recently got photostitch and had a little play with it.
Pictures weren't the greatest and the camera was on auto hence the differences in brightness but its a fun tool to play with.

I used a program called http://cvlab.epfl.ch/~brown/autostitch/autostitch.html, which came recommended on a couple of searches of google.
It's very easy to use, quite literally open the program, click on file then click the pictures you want to stitch and it does it for you.
Once the picture was stitched I cropped it on windows picture manager and auto enhanced it.

took about10 minutes total, and I'm no computer geek.
There are a few settings you can mess about with but I'm still finding out about them.

There were 12 pictures in the above panorama taken with a 12megapixel camera, so the original size is huge, it has been much reduced to fit here.
