18650 batteries, who makes the better ones?

AW IMR are very good. But a word of advice would be to search for 'Torchy' on ebay and then pm the seller. If it is worth knowing about batteries then he knows it. Tell him what application you need the battery for and he will be able to recommend the most suitable. Nigel.

Whats the cheapest GPS with OS mapping?

I own a satmap, £170 second hand off ebay and I love it - really useful backup to map and compass. The downside is the maps as they are pretty pricey. The Garmin offerings which have OS mapping (62 series, Oregon and one or two others) are all in the same price range as the satmap but have the...

Durability of "hiking trainers", merrell chameleon blast 3 in particular?

I paid over £70 for some Merrel chameleons 2 years ago and they only just managed to survive a 2 week family holiday to Disney. Granted we did a lot of walking but I thought they were pretty rubbish considering the cost. I see others swear by them so perhaps it is a QC issue rather than poor...

BG Ultimate knife. straight from the horses mouth!

My guess is he takes the Stephen King approach to marketing. He sells his name as an endorsement, does the bare minimum of marketing and then watches the dollars roll in. Look at the number of terrible King films / TV series - yet few people would claim he was a bad author. But, once you stick...

A day out on the chase

Me and my brother did a 14 miler on Cannock Chase around two years ago - part of it was over this rather large and steep hill. So there we are in all our gear panting and wheezing up this hill, sweat dripping off us. We were feeling like true outdoorsmen until this bloke, who must have been...

    Some advice for a newbie

Hi All, I live on the North East Coast close to Newcastle and wonder if anyone could recommend some nearby-ish places where I could get a good days walking in and maybe an overnight camp. Somewhere far from the madding crowd where I can pretend I know what I'm doing would be ideal :) I...

    2000AD comics (Early 80's stuff)

I've just got to say seeing those 2000ADs bought back some great memories of my childhood - anyone remember the free 'bionic' stickers you got with issue 3? God I used to love Rogue Trooper and Strontium Dog - Carlos Esquerra was by far the best artist they ever had.... And what do my kids...

completley usless shiney thing, I love it

I think it's about time Bear Grylls manned up and used these next time he climbs some mountain in the middle of nowhere, I can hear him now: "The ancient indians used £1 clips like these to climb sheer rock faces all the time ..." Nige
