Well I wonder, maybe this blanket has cotton or something absorbent in its make up. Its a merino blend but the label no longer shows what the composition is.
It is a good blanket, insulates well and I use it at home where it doesn't get the damp feeling.
I have looked on line and a few blanket manufacturers make wool blankets mixed with cotton. I've not used one as far as I know so don't know if they do the same thing.

I have wool clothing that is mixed with polyester (wool power) which don't take on the same clammy feeling as this blanket so it looks like Mike Parsons is right.

Totally unscientific but my 100% wool blankets seem to perform better than my wool blend blanket.
My single wool blend blanket seems to feel damp in humid conditions, but my 100% wool ones do not. I don't know what the blend is, % or material but it does take on a damp feeling in humid conditions.

Sort of related but I spent a few nights out using just blankets in cold conditions with the lowest temperature dipping to -13c. I used approximately 8kg of blankets with a cotton canvas cover on top which gave me 6 layers of blanket on top, I also had a good kipmat was warm enough to sleep.
So I found out what the mixture is for the blended fiber blanket, its 80% merino and 20% polyester, I wonder if the polyester is what makes it feel clammy ?

In the end I bought one of these and found a blanket left over from home removals so I can use both, the buffalo one I’ve yet to use!
