Got bored last night and rather than blank out in front of a dvd thought I'd listen to some music and hack away at abit of wood...

Meant to be a head kind of in the easter island style and took inspiration from a painting I created a long while ago...

The painting is still at my folks house so the carving was in the style of. Thinking of painting the wooden carving to make a kind of 3d painting.

Well got bored again...

I have plenty of kindling around so had another go at hacking a piece of wood - if I keep doing this I may have to get some proper tools:)

an imagined bird.

And another one - amazingly I had an evening spare over the holidays:-

It was originaly intended to be a heart, which quickly evolved into a rabbit, then a goat/demon/ horned face thing...

OH..those look like fun to do!! Do you keep them all?
They remind me of one of my favourite kids storys...now all Scandinavians here are probably familiar with 'Emil'/ 'Eemeli'. Stories about little lad who regularly got into trouble with his actions and to avoid getting punished he locked himself into woodshed, away from his dad, and while waiting things to calm down he carved figures with his little knife. In the end in, there were hundreds of them....

Another spoon carved during Christmas - I planned it to be quite square but that's as much as I thought about it, just carved away to see what shape it ended up.
It's been used as a coffee scoop, 1 heaped scoop of ground coffee is good for me.

Looking good, getting better every time. Im not sure if I am looking at your first piece right but I cant quite see the face  lol.

if your kindling is dry, try using a fresh cut branch, its much easier on the hands and saves your fire wood.

The plastic side fell off my SAK a while a go so I made a new one from a sliver of wood - I saw someone else on here do the same thing. I tried to make it as slim as possible, which has really cut down on the bulkiness, unfortunately there's not enough depth left for the tweezers to be housed inside. There was no glue, just holes where the pins are and pushed on, it's been on for a good time now and has started to pick up scratches and dirt [I prefer things when they have a used look] I'm just waiting for the other side to fall off now.
