I'm going to be having a go at a couple of canvas canoe packs soon, can anyone tell me what flavour rivets I need to look for ?

& can they be used with a standard rivet gun ?

Errmmm...When ive used them i just put the rivet in place then the washer and cut the stalk of the rivet so theres about 3mm sticking up and then use the ball part of a light ball peen hammer and kind of hammer around the edges of the stalk(if that makes sense?)the trick being to 'mushroom' the end of the rivet.A few taps should do it.
You can get a tool called a rivet snap which you place on the stalk and hammer it and it leaves a nice rounded top to the rivet.
Dont use a big hammer, a lil' one of a few oz should do the trick.

Bushcrafter (boy, I've got a lot to say!)
That's exactly how I've done the mask's Rich, it's not quite as easy as it looks but once you're away, it's fine.

The buxxer is the cost of the tool, plus you need an anvil, though you can improvise this, from a piece of inch plate or similar.
It's important to "set" the washer, as it locks the job together before actually riveting.

They might not look pretty but set properly, they will not part.

cheers
