When do Ash drop their seeds?

I was just wondering. I've not payed too much attention to it before now tbh. I was just a bit curious as they are all still on the trees.
 
Ash keys (seeds) take two years to reach maturity so take up to that long to drop off.
You will often see last years ones (brown) on the tree when the current years seeds are a lovely vibrant green in late summer.
 
Sometimes Ash hold onto their keys more so, when they are stressed, due to disease or damage.
