At least I think that's what it was, http://www.backpacking-lite.co.uk/index.htm . I remember it as a great UK source of DIY info, hints, tips, patterns etc.

It was a nasty surprise when I tried to revisit after quite a time only to find it didn't exist anymore. I'm hoping it simply changed name. Can anyone help me out?

Nope, thanks for trying. It wasn't a commercial site, it was run single handed by an enthusiast & loaded with diy hints & tips. ie How to make a micro tarp, sew silnylon, modify rucksacks, that sort of thing along with gear tests and experiences. Really, a great loss.
