If anyone knows the area, could you suggest any good walks or places to visit? I might be starting work there soon, so any information would be appreciated.

What to do in the Gainsborough / Retford area?

There's a massive area of woodland covering Sherwood Forest, Clumber Park, and all the surrounding F.C. land.
Quite a few field archery clubs, have a look on NFAS or EFFA. Seems to be a little bit of paddling on Rivers eg Ryton etc.
Not quite Swedn though on the Bushcraft facilities side.

I'll be driving home at weekends, so I doubt that I'll get any overnighters in. I like the sound of field archery ( I once won a teddy bear for my wife on an archery stall on Brighton pier, so I consider myself a bit of a Robin Hood in the making ) , as I'm mostly looking for something to do in the evenings.
