What to bring back from New Zealand?

  • Come along to the amazing Summer Moot (21st July - 2nd August), a festival of bushcrafting and camping in a beautiful woodland PLEASE CLICK HERE for more information.
Years since I was there, and I know some folk feel the quality has gone down, but all Macpac stuff was around a third of the price it is over here.
If you fancy a new tent or rucksack...

How long are you going for. Where are you planning on visiting?

:D
Hmmm, you know it works like the sepentinite ? And it polishes to a beautiful irridescence ?
JDLenton worked a piece of the greenstone down at the Moot, and it was a very lovely pendant when he was done.
It really needs someone with that kind of eye for detail and the focused attention to do it justice.

cheers,
M

Excuses, excuses!:lmao::lmao: I was wondering how the serpentine had worked out. Do you have any pics?:)

Paua shell :D
A friend brought me one back from a climbing holiday there. It has made some beautiful pieces of jewellery
Or some of the Maori carved *fish hook* pendants :)

I know, I'm a girl :sigh: :o

Your Missus will appreciate it though, and might even not mind you looking through all those shops :D

cheers,
M

i must agree with you about the maori fish hook or Hei-Matau pendants - i deeply regret not buying one when i was there!

so i got my GF to buy me one for my birthday :D i have worn it every day for some time now.

it is supposed to bring luck and protection to the "traveller"

I think the New Zealand kit is among the very best, especially for our climate. Catus Climbing WK Supertrousers are awsome and they make good gloves as well. All the Swazi gear is very good if a little expensive, Stoney Creek make resonable fleece hunting gear and Macpac are right up there for packs, tents etc.

if you can go to Huka Falls and take a ride on the Huka Jet
http://www.hukafalls.com/huka_jet_boat.php

we did that when i went a few years ago - it is brilliant fun!

i also reccomend Rotorua and Lake Taupo!

there is a wood worker near the Huka jet who makes all manner of things. - i got a spinning top when i went as i was only 13 but he had some truly great stuff!

cant reccomend anything else im afraid.

Rotorua is great:hammock:
