What I saw in The Range

Had an idle wander round, they do lots of different things.

I saw several things that caught my eye.

250g tubs of spices...all the common ones, (and pickling spice) £2.49.

Spices keep well but who uses that much, I ask you??

they are also doing mushroom kits...two for £10

Has anyone ever tried this??

Mushroom kits you say - do tell

I tried one in a polystyrene tub in my cellar a few years ago, the first harvest was great but then the rest were pretty poor.

I`m going past tomorrow so I may just pop in and have a look

I cant enlighten you further Im afraid;

I tried one many years ago, didnt work.

nor do I have an area in my house of 20 degree C to start the mix....

But try it, tell us how it went.

Anyone tried “mushroom logs”, a few varieties, for the garden…

SWMBO is out, so I can raise this subject. Bought a "mushroom log" (Shi-take) at the organic food fair in Bristol last year. Followed the instructions meticulously - no mushrooms. Repeated the process every three months or so - still no mushrooms. SWMBO reckons I spent £10 on a piece of firewood. She might be right...

I have seen the logs for sale in garden centers but I thought they were a bit pricey

It can take up to 18 months for them to appear....
