hmm top 10?

Casablanca will always be my favourite then in no particular order
Blade Runner (Directors Cut, no stupid voice overs)
Paprika (Christopher Nolan's inspiration for Inception)
Chinatown
The Twilight Samurai
The Extraordinary Adventures of Adele Blanc-Sec
True Grit (both versions but I prefer the remake, Jeff Bridges is awesome in it)
Warrior (great performances all round but especially Nick Nolte)
Wreck-It Ralph
Pacific Rim (love letter to the kaiju film genre)

there are loads more and if you asked tomorrow the top 10 would probably be different but they'll do for now

edit: I have to put The Princess Bride down too I love that film

The Coen bros really know how to make a good film:
No country for old men, True grit (2010) and Fargo etc all great in their own unique little way.

Hoping to see wolf of wall street soon which sounds promising.

Films/TV shows are a hobby of mine so there is really no way I can draw up a list of favourites as I have too many.

Recently watched as in this week:

Oblivion, not bad and I'm not a great Tom Cruise fan
World War Z, OK at best, not great
The Heat, enjoyed that one a lot and was not really expecting to
After Earth, awful from start to finish
World Without End (series), super stuff, loved it
Conspiracy (from 2001), a wonderful production

A few fairly obscure fiilms

Rashimon (another Kurisawa film and an absolute cracker, dark but deep - worth reading the book and the original authors other short stories too)

The 9th Confuguration (based on William Peter Blatty's book 'Twinkle Twinkle Killer Kane'...stunning book and wonderful film)

Perfect Weapon (Jeff Speakman in one of his better films before they all went the same way as Steven Seagal's....with a tremendous kata at the beginning)

Nico (Seagal's first and best film - especially compared to his later works)

A Lonely Place to Die (Nice, suspenseful thriller but worth it for the scenery alone)

Secret Life of Walter Mitty at the Cinema with 7 of us. Not only did Dad not fall asleep. He said it was good.

hunger games catching fire : at the local village cinema where you can get in and buy pop corn and drink and have change from £7.00. Good film, brilliant books.

Sort of agree...but a tad slow the first quarter/third of the film IMHO but still well worth watching. Jennifer Lawrence will be acting for a long time to come I think, a talented young lady, did you watch Winter's Bone?

The Desolation of Smaug.
It would have been a great film if I'd never read the Hobbit.
This Honest Trailer for An Unexpected Journey sums up most of my disappointments with The Desolation of Smaug... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sc32YdEWHzo
I'll probably only watch it another 20 times, and the extended version (when it comes out) maybe only 30 times, if that.

I watched how the west was won last Sunday. Quite an amazing picture. Particularly the river raft scenes and the buffalo stampede scenes, where the sounds of the thundering water, and the thundering feet, become a sort of droning disorientating white noise. It must have had quite an impact when it was first shown in the big theaters.
