Hi! im looking for some one to make me a custom machete blank! ive had axes before now but feel more confident striking with a machete, im after a campsite friendly sized one so alot shorter but would have to be thick to give it the weight to make up for not being as long, would this work? sort of like a bill hook minus the hook i suppose! thinking about it some one could grind one down for me! anyone help me out? go

This perhaps the nearest I've seen to a "bill-less" hook

Don't know if its what you want - just chucking it in the mix

I took the tip off my billhook (one of Jack's - sorry mate) It was a Newton style
I found for what I was doing the tip kept getting in the way
I like bills because they don't have the weapon factor like a machette. Only problem is carrying it safely. A leather sheath is ideal if you're any good with leather - or you know someone who is... ;)
He's mine after the revamp

I'm just in the process of making one.

1080 carbon steel, 5mm on the back edge for the weight. 10.5" blade and 5" handle.
Still got to heat treat it and shape the handle somewhat.

what sort of size are we looking at? why not have a go at making it yourself? all you need are files or a £30-40 belt/disc sander - thats all i have used to make the above blade. Then get someone to heat treat it for you.
