Evening all,

I am looking for a single crossbow bolt or arrow, this is for use as an embedded object in first aid training (will be pushed into a rolled up yoga mat simulating a limb)

Happy with some light damage, slight bend etc but would like some fletching intact so it’s identifiable as an arrow.

If anyone has one going spare happy to pay/cover postage/find something you need etc.

Thanks
Andy

An arrow is a pain in hole item to send. I can send you some arrow flights and you could glue them to a piece of dowling or similar. i will be in northern ireland to post on thurs if that works for you x

Wouldn't it be fairly easy to knock up a mock one with a piece of dowel?
Yes, I just wanted some genuine parts at least to give a bit of realism.

I have scissors (blades glued for safety) and knife handles but an arrow will offer a different challenge for the students

Nah!
Piece of leather round a stick to bite on.
Push the arrow right through and cut off the barb.
Pull out the shaft.
Pour whisky into the wound.
Strap it up with an old shirt.

I’ve seen it done dozens of times at The Tatton Saturday matinee in Gatley!

Am I the only one thinking... "a chance to encourage folk to see bows and arrows as weapons."?
:stretcher:

I would not be surprised if demonstrating the wound challenge of a crossbow bolt, when there have been much reported but still rare cases of murder by crossbow, doesn't make at least some think more favourably on a ban.

Removal of a deeply buried screw driver would probably be an equal challenge without the likelihood of anyone thinking it would be good to ban them

Possibly yes, especially in the light of the crossbow shootings.

Maybe best to choose a more innocuous missile? Sports day javelin accident maybe? - although posting that bad boy would be difficult. Definitely struggle with a conventional letterbox.

I get that, and though rare crossbow attacks do happen, so we train for them.

The complexity with an arrow/bolt is that you can’t see the head which is going the damage whereas most knives and screwdrivers are pretty straight

Did a “run onto a javelin” type injury at a training day years ago. One group opted to saw at it with a leatherman.

Have you done my advanced class?

Don’t forget to fire the wound with gunpowder

Got home to find an envelope from a certain R.Hood from deep within Sherwood Forest containing a number of flights.

Cheers Dale, appreciate it
