The only difference I can spot between the two is the former includes a cylindrical spice pot and the latter includes a spork.

They can. I got two LMF's one last year (Millets were doing two for a pound when you bought something else, which on reflection should have rang a warning bell) one broke almost immediately, the other it tucked away with my spare/not in current use kit.

I do have a folding one, not sure if it is Ti or not and that is pretty handy.

There must have been a bad batch of sporks then ( or maybe just a good batch ) because i bought 4 a few years ago and all are still going strong. They have seen plenty of use too.
