I rather like the Chesterfield Water Works as I like 1920-30 utility buildings.

There many gas/water telephone buildings of that era going to ruin nice to see one put to good use. Make a change from converted mills & chapels - you can not move around here for them.

The Cambridgeshire eco home was the one with the central staircase made from a whole tree trunk wasn't it? He also grew his own Leilandii to strip down and use for all of his interior woodwork. That gets my vote, purely because it's doable.

Not many folk get to build a house in the middle of protected forest just 'cos they make charcoal there - if only...

Was a toss up between the woodsman house and the finnish log cabin as I liked the way both of them successfully beat the planning permission laws.

I rather liked the one that the vets built near Penrith, underground but with south facing windows, energy efficiant and with lots more space than the woodsmans house.

Don't get me wrong, I like the woodsmans house but it was a bit tiny wasn't it.

What a bunch of ugly looking generic un-inventive houses, all copying each others arty farty modern architecture steel and glass eurgh!

Id still pick any over the hole I'm living in now though.
