Just bought my first legal edc today, ie the hiker.
It wasn't my first choice as i would have liked something older with more character like one of those folders from Case or Queens cutlery ( yes iv'e been using the search :) ) but this was available in Blacks for under £20.
It has a decent blade lenght for jollying tasks ie 2and a half inches and is reasonably unclutered.
One thing though, what is the sharp pointy thing like a needle for? I think it's called an awl? Oh god, don't say it's a needle  :D

I have a Victorinox classic in my work bag with a maching micro maglight attatched to it on a double ended webbing strap thing. Anyway, that toothpick has been a litteral lifesaver on many occasion if only for the sake of my sanity.

I really like the awls on the inox models as they make a neat hole and because they are sort of "L" shaped can be used like a fid for pulling threads through a knot or working them open again (as long as you're careful)

Ok, thanks guys. I was wondering today actually how does one put antler scales on but seeing as it's my first i won't subject it to that particular horror that only my ham fists could produce. :)
