I am VERY familiar with the system, as I spent 12 years in the US army

.
Overall, an excellent, if bulky, system. When used all together, it rates to like -30 F. Personally, I think that that rating is a little off. I have used the system below zero, and have felt chilly...nothing horrible, but definitely not warm. The goretex cover is bombproof though. I slept dry in an ice storm one one occasion. I did modify it slightly, by sewing a lopp of 55 cord itno the lip on the hood, so I could hang it off my face. The flexibility of the system is awesome though. During the warm season, I usually just too the goretex cover, to keep rain off me, and that was it. The green warm weather bag is VERY large on the inside, as it is designed to have the black, colder weather bag go into it. The advantage with the roominess, at least for a soldier, is that you can sleep with all your gear on, including boots. I know, sounds uncomfortable. But, when its time to go, its time to go. The less you have to do, the better

I would definitely recommend it for weekend stuff, bushcraft, car camping, etc. For longer distances, where you have to lug your gear, I'd look elsewhere. If you're looking for something that will serve you well, wear well, and not kill your bank account, pick it up. If you're looking for something lightweight & small, look elsewhere.
Hope this helped!
