I've been looking at purchasing one of these and was wondering if they are any good? I've found a few online but still i am unsure as to how they close around the head. Can you adapt them so you can make a mini tent for your head out of the head end flap? Anyone have any experience with them?

thanks in advance,

Joe

they dont close around the head, they are part of a sleep system , the sleeping bag hood velcros in, but unlike the uk bivvy bag, you can pull the hood shut and it stays loose, it doesnt suffocate you, there is a pic of mine in the gallery,

Thanks....

So you could sleep out in the rain in one without getting a wet head? Are they a better design than the uk version?

i have used mine for 2 years now, almost every weekend, i have been rained on a good many times, never got wet coz i rig a small cover over the head part, if you want total gortex cover, you might want to try a sealed bivvy, the type with hoops and stuff if you have the money, but i think my USMC bag is more than adiquate, lighter and better than the british one, how much is the price of the one you are looking at?
