unsual squirell antic's

I saw a squirell this afternoon, and I watched it for a few minutes. Has anyone else ever seen squirrels flatten themselves down so their belly is right on the ground, and crawl along like an infantry soldier? I've never seen it before...

Yes, I've seen that quite a few times with squirrels in the back garden.
No idea why they do it. Having a bit of fun, presumably.

Thanks for replying. The other thing that seemed strange was it stayed in the same spot for around a minute, squirrels normally seem so hyperactive constantly on the move.
