Well August marked my exit, due to redundancy, from the city and I am now in the fortunate position to take some time off and travel. My aim is to cover Asia and Australasia over the next 18mths and then at a later date South/Central America. I have Australia & New Zealand temporary work visas, an interest in all things outdoors and adventurous – no qualifications though I am an ML candidate and consider myself capable.

Things I am considering (of a potentially bushy nature, in addition to the normal backpacking).
Bushmoot and BCUK expeditions (I really want to do the Arctic course but it’s a long flight!)
Raleigh Borneo – looks amazing but £3k for 10 weeks eats into my budget.
Everest base camp
Aussie outback

The question is dose anyone here have any brilliant ideas for things I shouldn’t miss or projects I could get involved with? All ideas considered!

Thanks, Matt.

Working the ranches (stations) in Australia or New Zealand would be high on my priorities. As would hunting in NZ. Truck driving in either; working the railroad. Just imagine crossing either country aboard a locomotive or an 18 wheeler.

As for Central America, my Dad worked construction there for decades. Mostly Panama and Venezuela. Lots of American and European companies there.
