Just double checking the potential obvious that they're not mixing up CAD and GBP in the same transaction at a certain step?
Nah. it converts to a total in GBP at the buy now stage.. I would happily give ebay £100 to pay the vat and fees (thats what it should be about). its the courier I am worried about. the postage sayys 40 quid but it comes in at 60 on the bill. thanks for your input. This stuff spanners my head x

If you're not doing it through the eBay programme, it depends on the courier. I've never paid the courier on the doorstep, but have had to either pay the fees before they'll deliver it, or they've invoiced after delivery. The latter I suspect is less common now for private deliveries, it was many years ago for me, a FedEx Priority of some sort where the speed was key so they let you sort out the faff afterwards.

Thankyou. Are the couriers unscrupulous or are their fees reasonable. For example the vat is going to be about £90. The postage says £40 but comes in at £60. What might I expect to pay on top of that dya think? Thanks x

Remember that VAT is calculated on the total value including postage; it's 20% of the item value and the postage.

Handling charge: Royal Mail is £8, Parcelfarce £12, and upwards for the likes of UPS and FedEx. I don't think it'll be more than £20 for the handling charge.

Thank you. Dya think that is why the postage is £20 more than it says?
