I had an old Elwell 2 3/4 given to me by my brother about six months ago, so decided it was time to put a handle on it. I also picked up a nice little hatchet head at a boot sale a few days ago so I handled that also. both are made from ash, the elwell I treated wit Colron natural beeswax and the small hatchet I treated with Osmo polyx-oil. I prefer the finish on the hatcet as it really shows the beauty of the natural wood. I find the finish on the Elwell looks very rough and almost dirty, so this evening I will be sanding it back and using the polyx-oil instead.
I just finished making leather masks for both and the Gransfors wildlife hatchet is for size comparison. hope you all like

If anyone can help identify the make of the hatchet would be most appreicated, out of curiosity more than anything, its definatly handcrafted steel not a generic cast axe, but can see no identifying marks of anykind, cheers folks ATB Jono
