Love them, they're so full of character :)

Is the pipe carved separately?

Thanks for the comments
Hi Mesquite yep the pipe is separate just a little piece of our copper beech hedge - a piece of stalk and a small side shoot thinned down and the stalk clipped short to create the bowl

Muddypaws just give it a go Start by doing old men it don't matter if they end up ugly !!!!

Very cool Gary,
What timber are they made from?
Do you happen to watch "Doug outside" on YouTube?

Hi Scott
Both are made from Lime and finished with rapeseed oil
I do indeed follow Doug Outside on you tube / Instagram and hence I similarly am working on my own tribute to “Paddle to the sea” soon to appear on a bushcraft website near you !
Cheers Gaz

No problems with questions my friend
Yes it does I get my lime from Axminster which is a bit of mixed bag and can be a bit too dry ie harder
I’ve also used Alder which is nice along with gathered / begged / stolen ! Logs such as cherry Apple sycamore etc
Now people know I whittle / carve I get people asking if I want logs etc
How do you think a short tutorial would go down on this forum I’m a bit wary as it’s not strictly bushcraft ?

Thanks Gary
I use silver birch, odd bits of cherry and some harder woods but always very green for my spoons....wondering how the same woods will carve figures, much the same as spoon carving I'd guess?!
I've carved a wood spirit out of well seasoned hawthorn and it was quite hard but manageable with a good sharp knife.
Tutorial, absolutely it's bushcraft.....if I'm not mistaken.
