Coming soon, a week tomorrow in fact. Jon Henley visited Trevor today and is doing a feature on him in the Guardian next saturday. He has been doing a nice series on traditional craftspeople here http://www.guardian.co.uk/money/series/disappearing-acts There will be an article in the paper then a slideshow on the website some time the week after. I took him round to Portland Works afterwards to meet Stu Mitchel and have a look round other workshops there, hopefully they will feature in a piece planned for the G2 section later.

I took a few pics at Trevor's, see if I can put them up later.

Few pics for now.

Jon liked the knives so much he ordered 3.

Trevor normally has a few for sale but he has been a bit busy with a large order. These are Etricks, an odd little design but quite traditional apparently.

And Reg is going to make me 10 of these old fashioned scout knives up with some stag and some stacked leather handles. I'll be interested to see how they compare to modern outdoorsy knives.

This is Wigfull tools downstairs from Stu Mitchell at Portland Works, the last place forging tools like bolster chisels in Sheffield. There is currently a planning application in to turn the place into flats and evict the businesses.

He can forge 4 bolsters in a minute but still most folk buy them cheaper from China.

I do envy you having met the man Robin. I find his knives satisfying to use, great value and almost universally admired. My two bladed stag handle just gets better the more it patinas and wears.

Please, thank him for me for one of my favourite things that live in my pocket.

I have sent a few of his knives as gifts to special friends - all seem to like them - young and old!

I recieved a single blade sheepsfoot in buffalo horn as a birthday pressie from my eldest son. It seems to have taken up residence in my pocket and apart from a quick blade reshape to warnecliffe it remains un-moddded, which is a rare thing.
