I was sat up tonight orgainsing some of my tree photos and realised there were a few slightly obscure ones. So I thought I would publish ten of them as a competition. No prizes - just the honour of winning. First to publish the right names against all ten can officially call themselves "a tree guru". I won't say how many answers are right or wrong till someone gets all ten just to keep it interesting

Some are buds, some leaves, some bark, some flowers....

Some of the trees are common, some less so, some are native and some are naturalised.

Please number your answers so I can work out which name relates to which photo - English names only please:eek:

Have fun

Here we go then........

Well OK, now I've still got lots to learn so I only know about half... but....I'm not going to look them up, far too much fun to see just what I know.

1. Wayfaring tree (only know this from you Red - never seen it myself)
2. Horse chestnut
3. Spindle
4. Lime
5. False Acacia
6. I should know this one.... guessing at apple
7. Willow - don't know which one though!
8. Looks like ivy to me - are you being tricky? ;)
9. I'm going for blackthorn, but I'm not sure
10. Going for birch - I'm still learning the barks :p

So cool - they are designed to be tricky, quirky or unusual. They are all genuine trees and unaltered though promise!

At least three of these no-one has got right yet if that helps!

lol...reckon ive been looking at number 7 at a totally different scale to you lot  was thinking the spikey bit was about 6" or so. But since changing screens and looking at it at home, it is clearly a willow catkin. LOL

number 6 is definately holm oak, as i've just seen the same picture in your blog :p

that leaves (no pun intended) 10 that i dont think has been guessed yet. Although i still think it looks like white willow bark.

1.Wayfaring tree
2 Horse Chestnut
3 Spindle
4 Lime
5 False Acacia
6 Holm Oak
7 Willow
8 Field Maple
9 Blackthorn
10 White willow

Not a beech, not a fir.

It is a boradleaf that "bleeds" a pinky red when cut or the bark is removed..........

Glad you are enjoying it!
