I think Red Oak; Collins describes the bark as pale silvery grey, sometimes brownish, and mostly smooth; fissured with age. I think, because it's multi-stemmed, the bark looks younger. Red Oaks I have seen have been older and rougher bark but I suspect it is Quercus rubra.
