Tree and fungi identification help

Hawick, Scottish Borders
Hi SW, in order.
1-Looks like a dead Hawthorn
2.Beech(Fagus sylvatica).
3.young Sweet Chesnut(Castanea sativa).
4.Cattail(Typha) as you say.
5.burl is on Birch(Betula pendula).
6.young Birch Polypore or Razorstrop fungus(Piptoporus betulinus).
7.Horse hoof fungi(Fomes fomentarius).
8.Willow(Salix)

Just noticed theres only 7 though. I think what you thought was hawthorn is beech. My poor video work made the initial shot look like a dead tree when the leaves that look like beech are attached to it if you understand what i mean.

Could beech leaves be mistaken for birch leaves at a glance?

Thanks mate thats the site i use for initial identification but it's not always easy to get it right using pics so i like to get a second opinion for verification.

Now i know what beech looks like my overnight spot needs to be moved i think.

Because beech tend to shed branches unpredictably?

It is easy for us southerners to forget that beech is not native to northern Britain. I think this was probably the first tree I learned to recognise, or maybe the second after oak.

Yes, if you look at the beech in the first part of the video it's split right down the middle, other ones i've seen have huge limbs fallen off, now i know what it looks like i'll not be sleeping under it.
