Not directly Native American, but these people use techniques used by Native peoples the world over for thousands of years.

http://www.braintan.com

The site is owned by Matt Richards, author of the book "Deerskin into Buckskins How to tan with brains, soap or eggs". The website reflects what is in the book, and can sell all the supplies and equipment you might need.

I have the book and it is very clear and precise.

Also, another book on the subject is, "Buckskin, the ancient art of braintanning", by Steven Edholm and Tamara Wilder. Published by Paleotechnics. ISBN 0-9654965-4-6

These two books are good practical guides to the subject

Wildwood Wisdom by Ellsworth Jaeger

Native American Crafts and Skills by David Montgomery

The Jaeger book is the more detailed of the two and one I like to reread every so often,
