Was out playing hookey with BB today and bumped into a local falconer who was exercising his birds. We've seen him a few times before and he's a friendly chap so he put a couple of his birds through their paces for us (and BB got a chance to fly them too :))

The pictures get a bit blurry now - things were moving fast!

Nice thing to witness on a wander huh?

A couple of his owl flying too - not sure on the species tbh - short eared?

Na Stephen - don't often do big groups of people - I'm a bit quiet for that

Any time you are passing though we'll do a photo stroll ;)

Truant, bunking off, skiving off, avoiding work by going to places not authorised - having fun when you should be working!:D

Nice pictures Red. Did you use the camera's auto focus or pre focus and let the birds fly into the focused area, or just trust a high shutter speed and a medium aperture? I love the first image, good focus, blurred background to concentrate the image, framed by the gap in the trees and the bird is nicely in the thirds. Great image.

Pre-focus C_G . I wish I could have got a bit less tree as the background distracts for the subject a bit - sadly its rarely that easy! I have another thats against a plain sky thats a better study in some ways. The falconer has discussed a "photographers" day at some point where he exercises a number of birds against the backdrops and in the ways I ask.

Could be fun!
